Adding a vehicle and the FIPE lookup
Choosing Kind → Vehicle on the Add asset form (Net worth page) reveals the FIPE lookup panel, which pulls the vehicle's official market value straight from Brazil's FIPE reference table.
How the lookup works
It's a cascading search across four selectors — each one only enables once the previous one is set:
- Vehicle type — Cars, Motorcycles or Trucks.
- Brand
- Model
- Year / fuel
As soon as all four are filled in, the FIPE value resolves automatically (no button to click) and shows up in a banner with the value, the table's reference month, and the FIPE code. If the form's Value field is still empty, it gets prefilled with the FIPE quote — but it never overwrites a value you've already typed.
The full selection (type/brand/model/year) and the FIPE code are saved with the asset, which lets you re-run the lookup later to refresh the market value — see Understanding the asset timeline.
Other fields
Also fill in Name, Holder (personal/business), Acquisition date, and optionally the RENAVAM identifier. As with any other asset kind, the acquisition value and date are frozen once saved.
When FIPE doesn't respond
The FIPE table is an external public source; if it's temporarily unavailable, you'll see a warning and can still save the vehicle with a value you enter by hand. You can retry the lookup later, either from the asset's edit form or when logging a new event.
